I have become fascinated with coins and the history of them. I was wondering if anyone had suggestions on what books I could get that delv into the history a bit more of specific type coins or the hobby in general. Thanks!

I would look in the coin literature section of ebay. There are many books there are relatively inexpensive.

Check out any local used book stores and antique shops. I have found quite a few out of print books at these places. They all make for some interesting reading. I usually pick up whatever books I come across.

If you try Google and type in coin books you will get over 21 million results. A sort of expensive but numerous books on coins is the Whitman Web site. Whitman Publishing is the company that produces the Red Book, The Blue Book and many, many other coin books. I haven't tried it for a while but the Walmart Book web site used to really have some deals on coin books.

SDcoinguy: I've got a few numismatic books and a stack of old (2010) Coin World, Coins Magazine, Coinage magazine, Coin Values that you can have for postage. I can easily fill a medium flat rate box. If you're interested send me a PM. It's probably $50 worth that you can have for $10.95 postage.

For history of US coins (general) I would say try to find a copy of US Mint and Coinage by Don Taxay. Fractional Money by Neil Carothers. The first US Mint by Frank Stewart. I am currently reading Henry Voigt and others Involded with America's Early Coinage by Karl Moulton. And Whitman will be having a new book on the early mint that expands on Frank Stewart's work early this next year, possibly at FUN. If you want to go back before the US mint then I would recommend Sylvester Crosby's Early Coins of America. All of these except the Stewart and Moulton books should be readily available and not too expensive. (I find about 20 copies of Taxay around $20. I only found two copies of Stewart, a first edition at $300, and a 1971 reprint also at $300 which is absurd. I found Fractional Money at around $11. Can't find a copy of the Moulton book it may still be available from the author at $65. Crosby is available in the $20 to $25 range.)
