Found this in a lot of world coins I bought. Interesting piece once I started researching it. That seems to happen a lot .
If I understand correctly, these pennies were given to pledges? And they inscribed their names on them? Is that what the slight blur on the token is?
It appears as though this chapter was ultimately consolidated over the years and is known as the Cary-Grove Chapter.
But, the only history I can find for Cary-Grove says "dispensed 20 Dec 1855" and "chartered 3 Oct 1857", which doesn't jive with the date on the token.
Someone told me of these but I thought he was kidding. Thanks for sharing and I wish I had something to offer. Scob, everytime I think I've found something to share, you blow me away with your discoveries. I love this forum.
RAM is Royal Arch Masons- first order that a master mason from a blue lodge enters in the york rite. So as far as the date goes, make sure you are looking at the history of RAM #36 and not the blue lodge #36 for the state.
