English apparently is not the primary language. Plus, if I read the tag right, it's a silver cent? Or is "silver" the french word for copper?

These guys can be spotted by their manifestos on the coin holder.
Apparently, they charge by the word.

If you look closely... It's certified *damaged* by ICCS. Though, I do truly appreciate that beautiful display holder... :)

ICCS is one of the most respected graders of Canadian coins, and isn't a basement slabber or something similar.

Q: So....this coin is ICCS certified? Do you have a picture of the coin in the ICCS holder to prove that?

A: no because the coin are damage but they say that coin are very rare.We think there only 3 coin like that.(sorry for my fault I am french canadien)

Note the question. In the descriprion he says it's certified by ICCS, then in answer to the question...

Anybody able to confirm if what he is actually saying about the coin is true?

To be fair to the seller, and questions, the closest I could find to this coin was this article, which referenced the dot under the date 1c of 1936. See coin 4 http://www. (126) This link is not allowed by the Staff .com/article/rare-canadian-coins.html . According to the article, the dot was placed under the date to indicate that the coin in question was actually minted in 1937, and not in 1936.

With 7 known examples, and the history of the coin, as stated in the article, it's easy to see why it's a $350,000 coin.

Now, with the coin listed on ebay, 1920 was the date Canada switched from large to small cents. Could there be some tie-in because of the switch that would have created a reason for the coin to have been minted a year before or a year after 1920, (ie. Was it a prototype?", who knows?

The ultimate question is... Would even one of the top tier graders body bag a coin of such rarity, even in a damaged state?

Also... How much above face would you pay for anything from a seller whose largest sale on ebay was $0.51, with obviously juiced feedback?

from wikipedia

Quote:
n 1937, There was a pressing demand for 1¢, 10¢, and 25¢ coins, but as the Royal Canadian Mint was waiting for new tools and matrices to arrive from The Royal Mint, the decision was made to strike coins dated 1936, but a dot would be added in the area near the date to indicate that the coins were struck in 1937. The 1¢ and 10¢ coins with the dot are excessively rare, so rare in fact that only four or five specimens are known.[7] In 2004, a "Dot cent", as they are sometimes called, sold at auction for $207,000.[7] In January 2010, in an auction held by Heritage Auctions in New York, another example sold for $402,000,[9] while an example of the ten cent piece with the dot sold for $184,000.[10] The 25¢ coin, while not in the same class with the cent and ten cent piece, is still a very difficult coin to find.

I believe we all understood that you weren't making fun of his ethnicity. Someone just got a little overzealous in his posting. If we did that, I guarantee we'd be "snipped" and a pretty color ink would announce to the forum we were bad boys or girls. Like you, I found his post humorous and a little outrageous. As "RJ" pointed out, there are some really expensive coins out there and this may be one of them, but I seriously believe his posting was just a misplaced decimal point.
