Indian Head, 1872 (Most Expensive Of The Serie?!)

Now thats the one I want (1908 s) because I know I'll never own the 1877 or 09s.

They certainly did a good job of covering up the extent of the scratches.
Didn't see any of the horizontal scratches in the original pics.
You do see a lot of otherwise really nice coins that are "intentionally" scratched.
Someone at some time messing with a knife or whatever. I know of a 16d merc which would be G4,
but her face is all intentionally scratched, I think the guy wants like $450 for it.

But anyway it's up to you, if it is something that bothers you greatly, do you have an option to return it?
I think you have a case for the coin being misrepresented by the photo's. It's hard to say how easy you could move this
coin if you wanted to upgrade but I suspect you could at least break even.

I think you can get $20-$25 for it later. If you don't have it in your collection already I'd hold on to it. If you already have one I'd send it back. It's at least a hole filler for now, but I agree the lines are very distracting. Shame on the ebay seller. I wouldn't give him possitive feedback.

That sucks to see the big difference in the scratches. The seller definitely seemed to hide the extent of the scratches with the pics he posted. However, it seems your best bet may be to just hold onto it for now and possibly resell it later. I would much rather have a lower grade coin then one that is scratched to that extent, so perhaps a lower grade coin will really be an upgrade.
