That's better wording...now for a little education...I've been offered $75 by my local dealer for a pretty worn 99. The last one on ebay went for 83 in roughly the same condition. If you know anybody that has a decent 99 that they don't think worth slabbing, I'll buy them all day long for slabbing cost. You may not consider the 99 rare, but when they're bringing roughly the cost of a 31-S, I'd say that's better than most Lincoln's. Remember, the OP was about 1999 Wide AM's, not 98's or 00's.

I see maineman your point, But if someone is offering $75 un slabbed raw for a well worn 99 WAM ? No need in spending another $30+ to have it slabbed only gonna eat into any profit.Thats prob why the guy didnt slab it , he could sell ether way for the same price. Being its not a MS coin I didnt say they were worthless. I only stated more have been found and they are not as rare as they once were I think the lincohncent resource even changed the 99 WAM from " rare " to scarce on there scale of uniqueness 93 WAM still rare With any coin varation like this the more that are discovered, the more on the market, the supply is up but will the demand follow? My prediction is I doubt the market will be strong if people keep finding them at this rate Its not like they turn up on ebay once or twice a year , 99's are on ebay at all times. But how man 93 WAM's do you see ? someone could open a 10,000 1999 cent mint bag or 93 mint bag and unleash 10,000 99 or 93 Wide AM's on the market Thats the problem with this type of coin how many more will be found in 10-20-30 years ? the amount found only goes up. Will collector intrest follow?

[More and more LOTS MORE keep showing up /] That's what you stated...and remember..OP is asking about 99. I have not seen many 99's on ebay...there are some slabbed BIN for $750...I'm a regular seller and buyer there. As far as slabbing being a waste of money, typically you will recoup the price plus a little, simply because people like to know they're genuine.I've never heard of a 93 WAM, can you show me a link ? I'd like to see that.

One more little tidbit for you..when the 83 DDR came out, I could have bought BU examples for $50 all day long, but because a bunch of them were found in my area, we thought they were going to be common...I found two but am still kicking myself for not scooping up a bunch. Nobody knows what the trend will be in 10,20,30 years. 500 may sound like a bunch, but it means nothing when you have a million collectors.

my bad I ment 92 Close AM ( 92 with a 93 reverse ) One 99 is on ebay at 140 with no bids. I watched one sell for 37$ last monthfinal bid but dont know if it sold I cant remember didnt follow up. Some people sell at highest bid some not if the reserve is not met The ones slabbed for 750 are buy it nows not closed auctions remeber that 55-d DD we discussed in the other thread, The same seller selling with the $750 99am is selling the 55-d dd for $250 buy it now and we talked about it being worth 10-20 bucks so I doubt anyone will pay 750 for the wide 99 am unless its ms68-69

mainman you are CORRECT ! I had not looked up the wams in awhile. http://www.varietyvista.com/Lincoln...0Changes.htm92 99 are ex rare 98 rare 00 scarce it listed them all as rare a few years back , now the 00 have dropped down a notch to "scarce" the 99's went "ex-rare" the 98's are still " rare " looks like 00's went from rare to scarce. Does not mean the 99's in 10 years wont be dropped down to just " scarce" of they might be even more rare if people stop finding um ,

I said BIN for $750...that means buy it now. But the other thing about some of these ebay auctions is that they are not the real thing..some of these guys think they are because the worn die leaves a seperation between the A & M...but it's not the real deal..I keep a watch for 99 WAM's and there haven't been any deals on ones I believe to be real. I just looked at the seller with the 99WAM for $750....don't see where he has a 55-D double die ?

Good call on the worn die 99 I thought I had a WAM 99 but after looking closer it was just a warn die but it did appear to be seprated between the A M but the space between the M E was wider then the wams making it a obvious Close AMThe 1955-d DD is here , I thought it was the same seller this guy is asking 325$ for this one. http://cgi.ebay.com/1955-D-Lincoln-...em56416707b5thats why I'm not sure if I can really have a argument about that 55-d being returned if it goes as far as court all the guy has to do is use ebay as his ref point.

You also have to consider that the one on ebay is a registry coin. Only 11 in this grade and none higher (if the seller is listing fact). What condition did you say the other one was?

Did you slab the second one yet? You got a SMOKING 99 there. How many 99's do you think you looked at to find that one?

I see the first one was slabbed by NGC. I'm leaning towards them with both of mine to get graded. Can't seem to pull the trigger yet.
