I've found 5 1999 WAMs and I know 2 guys in my coin club that have found 3 and 6 so I agree they are not as rare as once thought.
Maybe they were rare because nobody was searching for them?

Maybe they are just located in your area from a delivery of cents from the fed in your area? That happens.

I have no clue, I found these while searching. The MS-65 was in a bank box. Found it after searching what seemed like a million cents. LOL IT WAS NO EASY FIND! I get a TON of 1999's in my boxes here in Cincinnati. The second one I found in my friends 30 year old change stash he let me go through. I should have kept count, but his stash was like no other. I'm sure he had at least 50,000-75,000+ coins, mostly cents. It has taken me almost 2 years to search and I'm still not done!  Honestly, I'm running out of gas! I haven't worked on them in about 3 months now cause I'm burned out. He still has a lot more at his house I need to pick up...but I gotta get this round done. It is SERIOUS work. |

bmanofnbc, I think you're right, they are pretty common...would you like to sell some of yours for $30 a piece ? I'm in the market if so.

All of mine have been sold or traded for other coins.
I never said they were common, just not as rare as once thought.

Yeah, it's too bad we'll never really know. The one thing to think about is the internet and how news travels on it.There may only be 500 of them but when you do a search and see 50 reports, you tend to think there are a lot. I've also seen plenty of them on ebay that were misidentified as there are some showing a space but the FG isn't located correctly for a WAM. |

13 years later from this thread. I still have the 99 WAM.. Still haven't sent it out to get graded. And, I still am horrible about posting pictures here. You'd think in 13 years I'd get better at this or things would be easier on this website. |

H Daddy, something tells me that my recent post here of the 99 WAM Roadkill compelled you to pull yours back up after 13 yrs. as you were a respondand to my post. This was the first coin I picked up starting again to separate coins into years after about a 10 month hiatus from cent burnout. WTH! Such a disappointment when I saw the condition. Until I searched current values. It was then I discovered the significant drop in value for this seemingly rare variety. The 2023 edition of RedBook was nearby. MS65 $500. Knowing their usually over inflated estimates, it still indicates scarcity for the varieties. Then moving right away to the PCGS & NGC price guides, as well as ebay, I noticed the significant drop in premiums for this variety. PCGS MS66RD $350ish. NGC MSBN63 $200. I'll let you search ebay. 13 yrs. ago might have been a good time to pull the trigger compared today, but how do we ever know. I considered hammering out the dents and filling with some Bondo and a bit of touch up until I realized the ROI.  |

Holding with the thought prices will go up generally doesn't happen.

My kinda luck to hold onto something losing value. My best roll hunting find to date. Now you got me wondering do I get it graded at all? I was all set to bring it to the big yearly show in Chicago the last two years. Something came up each time. PCGS and ANACS are always there doing walk ups. I'm an idiot!
