All,
Just go this in an auction and was wondering what everyone thought about a possible grade. It's the first time I've bought what I'd consider to be a really nice coin ungraded. I just would like to get other opinions on it, see what you think a fair price on it is, and see if it's worth me getting it graded? Sorry the scans are not great - I'm going to learn to take photos for the future. Thanks a ton!

Again this to me is a good example of is it circulated or weak strike and MS.
In my opinion, and thats what it is my opinion, its MS due to the luster. The weak strike area is the middle band and hair obove forehead. The coin is clean of marks.

The scan blows out certain fine details, perhaps you can adjust the it.

I say MS 65 for the time.

Nice first purchase, congratulations! I'd say MS-64 based on the scuffs on the cheek and neck and the two little pits to the left of the axe head.

I would go MS64, too. I think you got a good deal. Sometimes in a live auction it's hard to spend time with the coin and get an accurate assessment of the grade.

Thanks, guys. It always makes me nervous moving up little by little in my collection. It's good to hear that it sounds like I did ok on this one!

MS 64 works for me - shame about the weak strike on the middle set of bands.
