Hey, I just purchased a UNI-SAFE album for Canada small cents.. Eventually I plan to house my BU cents as far back as I can afford in it..

Comments on quality, and is storing them in it a good idea for the future? Or is it best to leave them in 2 x 2's?

I like a book for showing off my coins, especially those that are not silver. I can look at a whole page, do some comparisons of the coins, see at a glance what I need or would like to upgrade. It's more interesting to show them off to someone else. The book would hold the best ones that I own. Save the cardboard 2 x 2's for those duplicates or ones that your willing to trade. If your concerned about key coins being affected by the album then by all means put these in a special holder, something inert and not a cardboard 2x2.

If you're after completion, nothing beats an album. A stack of ICCS holders, no matter how complete, is just not the same. For really key date cents, I usually have one really nice certified example, and one lower grade example in the album.

Thanks for the responses

I already have low grade examples of all coins, I am now starting to upgrade to BU cents, I just don't want to stick them in the album and find it damages the coin down the road.

I have my Circ Lincoln Cent set in a Coinmaster Albulm I think that is like the Uni-Safe albulms. The coin master albulm has 5 pockets that slide out of each page. Each slide will hold 6 coins, so on each page will hold 30 coins. I have one book for my wheat cents and another for my memorial cents.

No, do not store your coins in Uni-Safe folders. I am assuming you are referring to this folder http://www.colonialacres.com/cgi-bi...cpsblue_lg1c or the one for the small cents.
These folders contain PVC and under the wrong conditions, the PVC from tehse folders will leech on to the surface of your coins. I have seen many collections with PVC damage because of being improperly stored.
The best way to tell if your folder has pVC in it is to sniff it.

If it smells like a shower curtain,
It's not safe to store your coins in.

Thank you, Snaz, I've often wondered about these albums myself. I only put my foreign coins in these.

I am thinking along the lines of snaz.

I received a 5 Cent folder from my father, same as the one offered by Col Acres above, and all the nickels were covered in a "blueish, gummy" film. I had to take each coin out and gently remove the film with a que tip dipped in rubbing alcohol in order to remove the film. With that being said, I then threw the folder in the trash! Unfortunately, thanks to my dad, I learned a lesson that day.... I personally use 2 X 2's and then store them in a 3 ring, steel eyelets page within an album/binder. Works for me.

Thanks for the opinions & suggestions

Not the exact album snaz below is a link to the one I have, which my plan was to hold the 30's,40's & 50's BU cents... Now I am thinking twice : ) Do you have experience with that specific album?

Looks like my description was not the best, on the album it says uni safe, looking at the website its a unimaster by the looks of it.
