I bought the gold today in Washington. Stopped by the kiosk to get the "metAl of honor" and walked out with this. I fell in love with the reverse.

I personally know three soldiers who are serving or recently served, one of them a woman. I believe they will like both sides of the $5 Gold as truely honoring their job. (and honoring those before them).
Sadly, the other designs look like the result of a committee decision... committees are rarely good designers.

Having 3 sons in the military I ordered three sets. Will have to continue working to pay the cost. If you price the $5 dollar gold in any comm. you will pay $350-425. I hope they sell as a way of telling our military that we support them. Our choice of how we spend our money often shows our character. I'll live with the designs I have to. LOL

I got my silver proof a few days ago. Although I'm still not a fan of the design, I felt compelled to get it having being in the Army for so long. They say my clad is on backorder. I would like the gold, just cant afford it.

On the dollar they should of had both people at the same angle. Just does not look right. Besides that they are ok designs.

I agree with the clad. I love the rev soldier on it. It is very sharp and certainly my favorite design on this series

How cool would this be?! The half dollar reverse as the obverse, while having the silver dollar's reverse!

Now that would be one heck of a coin...

I just received mine and I have to say that I believe the UNC is a much better looking coin than the Proof. The detail on the proof seems to melt into the coin. It's probably a case of "old eyes."
