Now we're talking parkquarters! I'm guessing $900 for a set of 5. I'm reasonably certain these will be the largest quarters ever minted.

They were supposed to go on sale last week but there was a big hassle over how to price them fairly. It looks like they will be available next week but you better keep an eye out because they will probably sell-out in a couple hours.

The mint says they can only mark them up by 10%. So...at $30/ounce...that's $150 worth of silver per coin. Add in the mint's $10/coin surcharge. The mint will be selling them for $160 +/- a bit due to spot price fluctuations. The bullion dealers can only mark them up $16 then, making each coin $176. $176 x 5 = $880. Add in some shipping and handling, and I think we're looking at sets going for $900 or so.

Waredu is correct, the distributors are not allowed o charge more than 10% over cost. Now in the aftermarket they will probably immediately jump to $1400. Frankly if I was a distributor I would probably say why bother and not order any from the mint. Either that or I would try and find some way to keep some kind of control over them so I could participate in the aftermarket flipping windfall.
Then the next question will be what the Mint's price for the "collectors" version will be. And I bet it will be a lot higher than the price they are forcing the distributors to charge.

Good point conder101 So far there are only about half of the 11 authorized purchasers participating in the sales of them to the general public I guess it isn't worth there time.they only have until 3:00pm today to place there orders with the mint then the mint will evenly distribute the balance/sets of the authorized purchasers that arnt participating to the ones that are participating thats (3000) sets from each authorized purchaser that isn't participating will someone please post a list of the authorized purchasers after they figure out witch ones they will be so that we can get a set before they sell out ?

It was reported elsewhere that Dillon Gage has posted this on their site: "NOTICE ABOUT AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL 5 OUNCE SILVER COINS: We have placed our order through the United States Mint in accordance with their guidelines. All Mint orders are subject to approval. If confirmed by the Mint, we expect to begin pricing and accepting orders January 3, 2011. If more information becomes available before then, we will post it on this website http://www.numismaster.com/ta/numis...icleId=16518

Funny looks like people are willing to pay over $100/ounce for them on ebay.
