Forgive me if this is common knowledge, but what's the story with the 2010 Loonie? The year's nearly over and so far I've not come across a single 2010 Loonie with the regular loon design. I've come across all three commemoratives but never the regular design. Was it not issued into circulation this year? Was it issued but at a low mintage? Or is it a common coin and I've just been unlucky not to come across it?

Three commemorative? There was the Saskatchewan roughriders CFL team, the Navy, Olympic and the Canadiens hockey team.
I have not seen any of the loon design either but I did receive one in my Christmas card set from the mint, so they do exist.
Edit: fixed typos

My bad, the Canadiens coin was from 2009. Sorry.

The 2010 toonies just arrived a couple weeks ago, so maybe the loonies did also, I missed that entirely.

They will come after a while.. It always seems like they are the ones that take the longest to arrive..

I have another question about the loonie, I've seen them selling on ebay for $200 dollars each?

So far, I've come across the following $1 coins in circulation:
2010 Loon (second most common) 2010 Olympic (Inukshuk) (most common) 2010 Navy (a couple)
I haven't received the 2010 Roughriders coin in change yet, but I'm in BC, and they may have limited distribution.

I contacted the mint and received this reply. Quote:6 January, 2011 Dear Mr. ........, I acknowledge your email of December 20, 2010 regarding the availability of 2010 one-dollar coins depicting the regular loon reverse. Please note that the regular 2010 one-dollar circulation coins were released early this year. I would encourage you to continue looking for these coins in your change. You may also purchase rolls of one-dollar coins from either of our boutiques in Ottawa or Winnipeg. If you choose to visit our boutiques I would, however, recommend calling in advance to ensure that we have rolls in stock. Also note that there is a 5% administration fee charged per roll. For more information about the hours and locations of our boutiques, I invite you to visit our website at www.mint.ca.

Quote: I contacted the mint and received this reply. Good on the mint for the personalized response. I'm thoroughly impressed. Could never imagine the US Mint actually giving a question like that the time of day. Way to go RCM!
