I do not know if there is a topic for this, but I am new, just got here...brand new Silver Proof if you'd say...collector. Ha. I was wondering if someone could make a list of terms, because I was reading this post, but I don't know what BT, BU, Culling...ect ect meant. Is there a Terminology "master" out there who can make a list to be stickied? Just a question, hope you can help.

There are some terms I'm seeing not in the Glossary. I'm learning to. Just ask, everyone seems to be pretty patient with the newbies.

We love n00bs here. Ask away - if you don't know what a term means, it probably should be added to the glossary.

For all you noobs a suggestion: Read the rules completely for starters, you'll save yourself and the moderators some trouble that way . Secondly, take the time to check out the various links on this forum, there is a lot of good stuff on here and although you won't remember everything, you'll still remember you saw that somewhere.

Although the Glossary here is rather complete, if you do find something missing, you would be amazed at how many other sites also have such listings of terminology. For example the PCGS web site has one also. Some dealers with their own web sites also have some Glossaries or a link to one.

I think the bigger problem is not terminology but abbrevitions for terms. BU=brilliant, uncirculated, CWR=customer wrapped rolls, OBR=original bank rolls, well, you get the idea. It can be very challenging to a newbie!

What's the best way for sending new terms to the mods so that they can be added to the glossary, jbuck? Listing them here and then clicking on "send note to staff", maybe? I agree with justcarl that other sites may list terms, too, but I'd like to see this site as having the #1, up-to-date glossary (which I may need to access once in a while, too - some of those abbreviations can get pretty arcane at times!).

That is exactly the best way to do it.

There is an "add entry" button near the top of the Glossary page, which automatically sends the admins an e-mail with your suggestion. If you've got just one or two glossary suggestions, use that. If you've got a whole bunch of suggestions, it would probably be better to send Bobby or one of the mods an e-mail with your list, rather than hitting the "Add Entry" button a dozen times and sending a dozen separate e-mails. At least, that's what Bobby told me to do after I'd already clicked "add entry" a dozen times, back when I was a relative newbie to the forum.
