I have been going through my foreign coins and found this UNC sample. It took me a great deal of time to find what it was. I looked through my Krause catalog from cover to cover and I did not see it anywhere.

My question is, is it a coin or a token? Was it released by Turkey or by this food organization? I have a coin collection and a token/medallion collection and I am not sure which pile to put it into. Does anyone know if it has a Krause number?

The coin was issued by Turkey in conjunction with FAO as part of the omnibus issue for XXIst century food security.

I do not remember where it was minted but I will check and let you know.

It is a commemorative coin, legal tender at 50,000 (old) Turkish lira (and now it is 5 new Kurus) minted in Istanbul (Turkish State mint) and released to the public around the year 2000. I think it belongs to your commemorative coin folder. :)
