Nobody saw an actual link to the item, perhaps he was just the seller trying to see if his fake was good enough to sell... Or am I overthinking right now

Anyway, it was a nice read

I scanned through completed ebay auctions and do not see this coin at all. Maybe this was the seller and someone reported the coin and got it pulled and then he came here to see if it was in fact a fake. Either way I think it has been determined a fake coin. If I am wrong I wish he would show a link to the actual auction he won

i bid and won the auction, but became suspicious because of all the pevious listed resons; 1st time seller with no feedback and only item listed with hong kong address. I did not have time to process all that before bidding but bid any way, then came here to find out if it was real or not, before paying.when I found out it was a fake I reported it to ebay but they were all ready onto it and stop the seller from sending an invoice and took down the completed listing.then I came back here and changed the title of this forum to alert everyone that this coin was fake and is still out there.

well still not what we asked for, we asked for a ebay auction link not some blog link (but just as I said it got taken down and that is why it can't be found on ebay), but if you bid that amount on that coin even with those pictures I would advise you to do some research and learn before throwing bids or money out there like that, I don't see where anyone that has ever seen a true 1893-S even in pictures would not be able to see this one is fake. If I were you and was interested in coins at all I would only buy coins graded or authenticated by either ANACS,NGC or PCGS until I honed my skills a little better to be able to detect what a Morgan dollar actually looks like before throwing away money. This one was easy to spot and you still bid on it, I guarantee to you there are some out there that would fool a knowledgeable collector/dealer so I would stick with graded examples if I couldn't tell this one was fake before bidding. Just because the bidding was so high doesn't mean there was other bidders that fell for it as well, these guys have shill bidders all the time hoping someone will believe its real and reel in someone to bid high to win it

I'm not sure why you're being so hostile. You asked for our opinion. We gave it to you. The coin you bid on, and won (by the way), was/is/will always be fake.

Bottom line: YOU bid on a counterfeit coin without being totally informed. YOU bid an enormous amount of money without knowing what you were bidding on. YOU asked our opinion about this coin after the fact. And NOW you want to back out on an ebay auction you NEVER should have bid on.

And somehow you're mad at us.

You should be mad at yourself.

Please take all our recommendations to heart. LEARN about what you're trying to buy. Become a knowledgeable coin collector. If you do, you will be a much happier coin collector. If not, you will continue to be unhappy, and may (if the mods allow it) continue to ask our opinion WAY too late. And then it's too late to help.

There are a LOT of smart people here who have been in your shoes. We can help.

Again, second bottom line:

It's just like my Dad used to tell us: If it's too good to be true, it probably is.

IF YOU KNOW ABOUT SELLING OR BUYING ON ebay PEOPLE WAIT TO BID ON STUFF TELL THE LAST SECOND

Thats true. But, the people that do bid in the last seconds have done their homework, and know what they are getting...

i know every thing all of you are saying . I came here and started an account to ask 1 question; if it was real.i did not think I would encounter such snobby coin collecters.i did not ask for advise on bidding at the last second, I did not ask for advise on shopping techniques or how to bid on ebay properly. like I said I am new at collecting coins so I am not too familiar with the dates and such, but I thought since there were a lot of bids it had to be a good date . then I researched that date and saw it was a rare one so I inspected the auction coin better and thought it wasn't right, and came to post here.i get a lot of good comics shopping on ebay this way bidding at the last second on something unfimliar with very good luck but I guess coin hunting is harder.i was just trying to make a positive out of a negative by saying well at least I saved someone from paying for it who might not do more research before paying . I will all ways do research before paying . I do do research before bidding if there is time but some times you must act fast.i think getting an unpaid item from ebay is worth protecting myself before and after bidding and winning.

people keep saying well thats how you get burned. not if you do some research after bidding and never paying if its fake. Ralph said, I will not help you with coins before you pay for them next time.cool thats how someone will get burned and a thief will benefit next time
