Hello folks

Picked this one up not long ago for very little. I am concerned about the corrosion. So my questions are: Should I send this one off for conservation? (I don't feel comfortable trying it myself)

Is it doomed to the details grade?

Thanks in advance, John

AU-50, cleaned and retoned. Conservation will not help.

Not worth sending to NCS but you could soak it in acetone, rinse and pat dry then apply Blue Ribbon coin conditioner and preservative. Might make it look a bit better and should neutralize anything active on the surface and protect what is left to protect.

I wouldn't put anything on it, poor guy already had a rough life. I'd put in a window sill for a year and see if it improves. Poor Abe needs some air. LOL

It's a shame, it is a nice coin. Sometimes a long retoning can work wonders.
