I have a bronze penny of 1965 in uncirculated that weighs 6.9 grammes. The flan is very obviously thin. All of the detail is perfectly struck up, and the rim looks normal except that is also thinner. The rim consistent with the thin coin, with the beads showing normal height.
The normal weight for these coins is 9.4 grammes.
My Coincraft 1998 Standard Catalogue (for UK coins) reports a thin penny of about 7 grammes for 1967 lists a value of 200 pounds in Unc.
My question is :
Are any more of the 1965 thin coins out there, and are they reported elsewhere in the numismatic literature?
