Saw a commercial for $2 state park bills. Anyone else? Caught a glimpse, I'm not sure if it's from the Mint or not. I'm at work and the site is behind my firewall so I can't check. I believe it was https://www.parkbills.comEdited by lukkyseven 12/24/2010 2:34 pm

Im pretty sure that an organization added those features onto the bills, not the BEP

it said they are privately done. too bad, that would spark some serious interest in collecting notes.

Just look at how that site is worded so somebody assumes it's an "official" BEP release. $16 for that? I'm in the wrong business.

I searched for them - New England Mint. They have some BBB problems. I'd never order from them. Read the fine print if you're considering it.

Nope, if it's not the Mint I'm not interested. I was hoping someone would be able to tell me if they were. Like I said, I can't get to the site at work b/c it's behind our firewall :(.
Thanks for the info

Well, it would never come from the Mint in the first place since the Mint does not print currency. That is the responsibility of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing(BEP). Of course, it is not a BEP issue either.

They're hawking them on TV for almost 16 bucks (that's with the $5.95 for shipping and handling). I'd stay away from them. But hey, who am I to say.

The BEP does issue collectors 2 dollar notes. I have the district sets for 2008 and 2009. They start the serial number with the year they were made for. The 2008 start with 2008 and the only make 9,999 sets of them per year.

The ParkBillsTV banner ad is right above the text box as I type this post.
I find it ironic that they waste their money on advertising to a forum that actively denounces their... what's a nice word for SCAM?

Personally, as a fan of the $2 note, I think all the extra stuff that they add to them (gold leaf, images of landmarks, etc) defaces them.
All of this "state 2 dollar bill" stuff, is just gimmicky, to me.
If I want $2 notes, I'll just go to the bank, and ask the teller for some, thank you.....and those won't be defaced, with a bunch of tacky imagery.

That's pretty funny, Nick. No sorry necessary.
