Welcome to the forum kickshaw. I can't tell you if your penny is real or not but similar pennies have been discussed in the past on the forum.

I hope this helps you some.

well, lets see, today is Christmas, yesterday was Christmas eve.

there aren't many collectors that specialize in this area(since the forum is U.S. based) and the ones that do are probably with the family, not on here.

i'd give it at least another day before an expected answer.

From comparing the pics on thesandpit's website and yours, I'm afraid I have to doubt it's authenticity. By my reckoning, the reverse is "Birmingham" type, which is usually a clear indication of an altered date.

I'm no expert, but my eye is drawn to the zero of the date:
seems high; and
differs in alignment from the other numerals.
Which make me wonder if it's an "altered date" ...

I have been studying it for awhile trying to figure out if its genuine or not , my granfather had it framed with a 1923 half penny for the las 20yrs that I know of, he was an avid collector which I have 2 full sets ,makes me wonder , the guy at the local coin trading shop said it has to go to auction with a disgruntled nod of the head pushed me out the door, mysterious!
