The first coin is a German 5 Mark coin from Saxony. I would grade it at AU-55 with a value about $45.00. The second is a German Thaler from the state of Hanover, struck prior to the current mark system and would be equal to 3 marks. I would grade it at VF-30 with a value of about $40.00,

Oh.. what are these coins made out of?

Also, the wording on the edges is still in very good condition and readable.

The Saxon coin is 90% silver with .8038 oz. ASW. Only 100,000 pieces were minted. In my Krause (which is 6 years old) I have $125 for XF, $175 for UNC. I'd say your coin is at least $150-200 now.

The Hanover thaler ( , I'm into British monarchs!) is 75% silver, .5370 oz. ASW, $115 in VF, probably in the area of $150 by now.

Edit: only 44,000 thalers were minted
