1938-S---DDO-Question

1938-S---DDO-Question

after refering to coppercoins site, there are no 1938S DDO (eyelid)
listed. I was actually looking at this coin - prior to going to his site, so I was somewhat surprised therre were no doubled eyelids listed. I have only attached two images. I am clearly a novice here, but does the eyelid look doubled to anyone else, besides me. thanks for looking.

1) bad or annoying questions.
2) no actual answer.
3) no one cares.

just wanted to try to get an answer - before the post gets lost. if the questions are simply annoying, I will either try to post better questions - or just keep quite in the background.

thanks
db

I looked at it bro, but I'm too inexperienced to diagnose it. I've been waiting for someone to chime in, too. Looks kind of like a die chip to me, but I didn't want to go on record - LOL!

Don't get discouraged. We all get ignored sometimes. But, a lot of times the right people haven't looked at it yet.

It really looks like a die chip to me. The angle at which it points doesn't align with where you would expect the "second eye lid" to be (as in a doubled die).

It does look similar to some of the "doubled eye" Lincolns, so I certainly see your question. If I was forced to guess I would stick with die chip or gauge, label it and stick it in my "weird" pile - ha ha.

4) Not everybody has time to stop by every day and answer every question asked. Remember - nobody is paid for this.

Looks like it could be a doubled eyelid, and there should be no surprise that any given date/mint has none listed. They are on the bottom of the priority list because there are a LOT of them to list and VERY few people care.

i am well aware that no one is being paid for reading or responding to a posted question. neither was I expecting input from "everyone", (as I understand that "not everyone - has the time to read and respond to every post). I was merely asking a modest question, in the anticipation that "someone" with the knowledge/insight might answer my question. all that said - I really do appreciate those who took the time to contribute to my question/post. thanks.

Well, based on what Coppercoins said, you may have found a new variety and for that I would be pretty excited!

While it may only be minor, it still shows you know what to look for! I would try posting those pics on some of the Jefferson forum's (no idea which ones, sorry) and see if anyone there might add something.

In the mean time, good job and thanks for posting!
