I've been studying a print out of the clash chart. If you turn one of the charts 180 degrees does that not put the MM over the first 8 just left of center?

That would assume a medal orientation of the strike, which would be 180 degrees wrongly struck.

correct, that would be easy to spot because if you were looking at LIBERTY correctly, you could just flip the coin over and the eagle be right side up also and not have to spin the coin to have the eagle upright. So if that was the case there would be no question of clashing the first thing you spotted would be the rotation

Thanks guys, I'm gonna have to get somebody else to look at this coin. I can see the circle over the 8 with my naked eye and even better with a 16x loupe so I'm sure it's there. Just can't figure where it came from.

Maybe you have a zoom on your scanner? If you could get a nice clear close pic, I would love to see what you have.

Gonna try and get together with scoutjim99.Maybe he has some way of getting a close up of the date area. Turns out we only live a few miles apart.
