Quote: I've been away for a while, but I see some things never change. Great job Johnny! Good to hear from you Keith; it's been a while. We miss you around here! Quote: Do you mind sharing the seller? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...TRK:MEWNX:ITAs you can see, I'm nearly $300 into it after the value from the rest of the lot was taken out so it wasn't a total steal. My max bid was actually $515 for the lot(barely won it). I'll make a bit of profit, but It's really more fun just to be the one finding them and rescuing from being thrown in silver junk piles. This is probably one of the most affordable examples out there for someone working to complete an SLQ collection, so I'm sure there will be some demand.

I'll bet that seller is wondering what they missed. I know I would sure be wondering why a roll of SLQ's I dismissed as simply bullion sold for $300 more than it should have. LOL!
Johnny, you've got eyes like an hawk! Your prizes in these lots have been well-deserved. Knowledge is king!

that seller has sold thousands of SLQ's, and I think its the same group of sellers for all three of the ones Johnny's picked. They usually have a couple dozen lots of $10 face going at a time.

If you were referring to the one I started, it would have been around Feb 2009.

Well if it's bullion is 300$, depending on the amount of lots you buy, wouldn't you loose money? Because you wouldn't find one every lot would you?

I wouldnt bid that much over bullion on a lot unless I knew that the particular lot had the valuable coin. Was that your question?

You are right, 2010, not 2009.

Keith, I actually half expected an email from you on this lot, as you were looking for them pretty intensely at one point. Thanks for all the comments! I guess I am kind of on a lucky streak here. It certainly won't last forever. In the future, If one of you guys thinks they found one before hidden in a lot before I do, you can feel free to shoot me an email for my opinion. I promise not to bid on the lot if it wasn't one I was already watching. Contrary to what you all may believe, I dont look carefully at every 40 lot auction, and there are certainly others out there undiscovered. I would love to see another forum member cherry pick one for his collection at some point. Here is a little junk quarter collage. The first one(on the left) was the strongest(still have it in my collection), yet they have steadily been getting weaker. At this rate, if I find another one, the only thing left will be the lock of liberty's hair.

My question, you paid $500 correct? The silver value of the coins is only $223.60. So if you kept buying these lots, youd pay 300$ over the melt and not every lot would have one of the prized coins? So in the long run you would probably end up loosing if you did this constant? Please tell me if I missunderstand something.

I wouldnt bid that high if I wasn't quite confident that I could see a dateless 16 in the lot I was bidding on. If you look at the link, and look 1 over from the bottom right coin, you will see the dateless 16.
