You all are probably getting sick of my dateless slq threads...lol, but I get so excited I can't help myself.I received the slq lot today, and alas, it is another dateless 1916 quarter! 3 for 3 this year. However, it again, wasn't a total cherrypick as the lot had run up a couple hundred dollars over what it would have gone for without this coin. I should be able to make a profit on it, but since this one will in no way EVER grade anything other than a PR01, the profit will be smaller than the last 2. This has got to be the most worn out dateless 16 I've ever seen period. It does have very nice surfaces for the grade though.

It is really just the thrill of searching for and finding them that I love.....oh so much FUN! Again, I will be sending it off to ANACS in a few days.

Geepers ...... you have to wonder how long that baby circulated to arrive in that condition.

Another great find by the 1916-King.

How can you tell it's a 1916? I thought variety 1 was used in 1916 and part of 1917. Please explain!

The bottom part of her drapery touches her right foot only on 16's. Also, the head touches the top of rim beads. This is a poor example to show that!

Theres certian differences between 1916 and 1917.

Jonny, would you ever trade this one? I feel the need to have one now, my collection feels empty without one.
Nice find, by the way!

There are several threads that I posted some detailed diagrams on if you search as there are many differences; but basically in this grade, the main thing I look for is the crease on the robe beneath liberty's right arm, the weakness in shield rivet detail, and liberty's hair.

Well, I plan to sell it after it's certified, but you can always PM me any offers (I can't talk about trading here).

I just found something another coin in this same lot of 40 that I found the 16. Kind of cool more amusing than valuable. Along with my lowball 1916, there is ALSO, the lowest grade 1927-s slq that I've ever seen! You know that an SLQ has a LOT of wear when a post 25 has barely 1 digit of the date visible and the mintmark is almost worn off.

So basically in the same lot, I found the 2 LOWEST mintage dates in the absolute LOWEST grades possible. Lowballers dream lot right here! (I'm very amused) Here's a pic

Wow, congrats again Johnny! I agree with you on the grade, although the wear kinda helps the eye appeal in a lowballish kind of way.

geez.......I'm going to have to start really looking at these. I've been ignoring a lot of the lower grade stuff, esp dateless coins. But apparently there are still some great pickings
