Nice coin, and by the way, my toning questions was in relation to the Bluing....That's not a color I see on many coins I have owned for many many years....And I do not think its been doctored to the NEON blue one see's so frequently on ebay..., thats why I asked how long would natural toning take to get that color.....I think a minor Hijacking is ok as long as it doesn't forget where we started.......I had started a thread on grading but have been to busy, think I will have to resurrect it....I think the above comments warrant such discussion as such widely viewed views often are speculated, many with horrible photo's which get better reviews than a very good picture, "ALWAYS" grade inferior... |

Could not the composition of the paper (the particular species of tree) used in the making of the album, have something to do with the hue of toning? I have seen virtually all colors of the rainbow as the primary or even singular color on some very pretty toned coins on CU.... the reviews were rave, so I assumed that they were natural... (CU is not a world of false praise)..... I have noticed that reds, pinks and oranges seem to be more frequently associated to copper coins..... while the purple, green and blue more common to nickel.... Silver seems to usually take on a collage of color more like a rainbow or oil spill.... I think that I have seen a few mono-hued silver coins though.
NT or AT... some toners are just real eye catchers, and this coin is one of them.

I'm kind of in agreement with Morgan's dad on this one -- AU58 type coin that has been dipped and retoned.

Zeewool, since you seem to know a little of Cleveland's suburbs, you shroud be informed that I went to high school in Olmsted Falls, and have been a rabid fan for 30 years of the team which is currently whuppin' your Razorbacks.  |

Me too but also we all should remember that there are collectors of Beanie Babies, Sporting cards, US postal stamps, auto hub caps, unbrellas, flashlights and on and on and on. If you talk to a flashlight collector, there too are people that like modern ones that use LED's and then there are those that use really large bulbs. Some collect by brand and some by size. I really don't care for toned coins and have none in virtually thousands of coins. But then too there are collectors that have mostly or only toned coins. Some are really great looking but I just can't see why people pay really excessive amounts of money for some. Of course I don't like the Mona Liza either. |
