Is there any way of getting a readable date off some no date SLQ's I have? I've never restored a coin before but have seen it work with buffalo's. At least one of them has an S mm and I was just curious to find out what year they are. If posting pics would help I can do so next year...

There have been many attempts, and there was a fairly extensive thread on this subject (though I have such an awful time finding old threads). Basically, the things that work on Buffalo nickels do not work on SLQs, and there was not much success finding anything that would date SLQs well.

Keep in mind that with a restored date the buffaloes usually aren't worth much anyway - and the nic-a-date seems to bring the date back but it disappears again on most coins after awhile anyway........really wierd. All you have right now is the fact that you can tell a type 1 coin that is dateless.

I prefer looknig for higher end ones, and you can still pick them out a bit....I found a gorgeous 28-s small s abt 2 yrs ago at a coin show
