Bought $100 of junk silver, stashed the rest in my savings account. My father gave me some mint boxes and a 2006 Legacy set for Christmas, that was enough.

Quote: But Carl you already own an example every coin ever minted.. Don't forget Carl's tons of duplicates, including a total of ten 1909-S VDB Lincoln Cents. As in previous years, the family drove me to the coin shop to select my present (which was a VF 1908-S Indian Head cent). I got a grocery store gift card, and I went to that store five times this week before I finally remembered to use the gift card in my wallet. This is because I pay cash for all my in-person purchases, and I'm just not in the habit of using cards (thank God!).

I got a decent sized stash of junk silver - I'm trying to decide whether I want to sell or trade it for some nicer coins or hang on to it hoping silver goes up.

I just added the cash into my roll searching fund. Not that it has ever paid off for me LOL.

sdcoinguy, I still need to upgrade 6 or 7 to the au-bu status before the set is picture worthy. :) I started with a small stash of circulated coins and when I started acquiring more I soon realized the unc.'s where not much more money than the circulated coins. Nice to be completed and most of the upgrades are not the "tough " ones. But alas, I'm moving on to walking liberty's

I picked up a nicely toned 1879-S that I'm hoping is MS-63 PL. I need to get a pic up on the classic coin forum to get the opinion of the experts, and if they think it is worth sending to PCGS....
I also bought myself the 2010 Proof Silver Eagle - which I'm very pleased with. I can hardly see any marks etc. and it sure looks DMPL to me.

Mint_Marq Update....I bought a 1835 Half Cent on ebay the other day for $44.... Pictures were very crumby...kind a "Pig in a Poke" purchase I find myself gambling like this sometimes...anyone else have this problem. Anyway I will post pictures when it is delivered...unless it is so bad that I am too embarrassed .

This was the first year in a long time that I received no coins for Christmas:(. No big deal as I have plenty to keep me happy already:). Nice to see everyone else's pickups!
Happy New Year everyone!

Quote:I bought my first US Half Cent. What have you bought with gift cash received for Christmas? Very nice! I will let you know what I got after the next coin show (in about eight weeks). Quote: These key dates are more affordable when you compare their prices now to a tank of gas. Its all how you look at it. What I spent on gas last year would buy me a 1909-S VDB and a 1916-D. Of course, if I did not spend that money on gas, I would not have had any money at all.

All I asked for is cash to buy coins. It's buring a hole in my wallet! I have $400 ready to spend but no coin show for awhile.

Of course, if I did not spend that money on gas, I would not have had any money at all. Ahh, the vicious cycle we all hate. Might get even worse this year if the price per barrel keeps increasing.
