HSN selling ATB 5oz set for $4800.00.

Individual coins are available at $1200.

Why is the mint permitting this? How did HSN get a quantity of these coins?

They are truly evil people.

How could somebody honestly do this though? Why would anybody buy it? Curious to see reactions after the purchase and they find the mint sells for cheaper.

Sellers have the right to price anything for however high of a price they want. That's why you don't see the sellers of high priced coins on ebay getting arrested.

Most likely directly from the Mint.

Most likely not because I don't believe they are official distributors, but they can hire a large number of low wage flunkies to order coins from the distributors. They are also supplied by large dealerhips that both purchase from the distibutors and from the open market flippers and those coins are channeled into the TV show. Buy from distributors at around $850 or from the flippers at $1500 and sell on the TV at $4800. At that mark up they can buy retail and still make money.

Because since the TV shows are in the secondary market the mint has no authority over them.

Lately they also had sales on Unciruclated sets, Gold coins, Siver Dollars and lots of other coins. It is fun tio watch them explain MS grades and first issued coins. I really feel sorry for people that buy their stuff.

they are selling them for 3 grand at mint products which is ridiculous. When APMEX first put them on sale they had them for over a 1000 for the set which is robbery considering the mint sold them to APMEX for somewhere around 130 a coin.

It's going to the classic"Supply & Demand" scenario.
The mint did not produce enough so prices will keep rising until........

the whole thing leaves a sour taste in my mouth b.c collectors/investors who wanted to buy these were pretty much done in from the get go. which I know its your own decision to buy them but I would have liked to have bought some but I will not for the prices advertised. just have to do without

I have no interest in buying a monstrous oversized overpriced replica beer coaster copy of a "Parks Qtr.", of which I'm not all that thrilled about collecting in the first place.
Even if I could get one at current "spot price" with won't ever happen.

I'd rather have 5 oz's of junk silver than one of these I believe.
(except maybe the Yellowstone one)

I'll be collecting the "regular" Parks qtrs in Uncirc., Proof, and Silver Proof, for my albums, just because I have no choice if I want to stay current...... However, thankfully, I "DO" have a choice with the 5oz Monster !

Even if they sell one coin I think they break even. How I arrrgh-ing hate them. In a truly capitalist society there would be competition buying up airtime on their timeslots.

I really despise HSN. They are no better than the groups that entice the elderly to sell their gold at 20% spot.

I agree with you Buffalo... alot of those gold places won't even give you a price and want you to just send in your gold, and alot of them tell you what they pay per gram, which I think also misleads people.
