I'm noticing that all of my Sacagawea dollars are toning the same way. They are in a dansco album in a very dry area with temperatures around 65-75 F and air recirculation every few days. The entire coin gets the same toning. It's becoming an even golden brown color looking a lot like older circulated gold coins. I would compare it to the color circulated sac's get except mine still have luster and are uncirculated. The most interesting part is the intensity of the toning. 2000's have the deepest brown color, then 2001, 2002, etc. Does anyone else have dollars like these?

As with all other kinds of brass, you've got to keep "golden dollars" in very airtight conditions to prevent them tarnishing - the alloy is inherently unstable. My one and only Sac dollar has been in a 2x2 since I got it in late 2001, and is currently slightly darker and duller than the gold $20 coins it's sitting next to in my US coins album.

See this recent thread for some discussion on the instability of "golden dollar" alloys.

Although you say your in a relatively dry climate, there is always some moisture in the air. Dansco's and all Albums are not air tight. As long as air can get to your coins, so does humidity. The combination will eventually attack anything with Copper. In order ts someone stop this reaction, I suggest you place your Albums in Zip Lock plastic bags.
