As a very small celebration of my passing 50 posts I would like you to share your favorite NZ coin with me and anyone else who is interested! My persomal fav is the 1993 kingfisher $2 just because it is the only year has a diferent reverse and it looks cool Here is a couple of bad scans of my one. That crazy New Zealand bird deserves it's own coin. I've never seen a bird with more character than the Kea, the world's only mountain parrot and one of the smartest and most destructive you'll ever find. Report this Post to the Staff
grouse12 Valued Member New Zealand 227 Posts	Posted 09/06/2006 8:37 pm No Jim there isn't one with a Kea on it yet.Maybe it has upset too many people destroying the rubber seals on their car windows and stealing aerials,food,clothes and anything else they can find!! I have all three 2004-2006. Many countries have permanent research facilities and lay claim to areas of Antarctica. Just wondering if NZ ,or any country, pays tribute to this land through their coinage. What about penguins? One is the 2005 $5 fiordland penguin and the other is the 1988 $1 yellow eyed penguin.
