First of all, I am not very familiar with bust halves. That said, I have begun looking for one to fill a hole in my 7070. It seems to me that there is a much greater percentage of cleaned bust halves versus other varieties. Does this seem true to anyone else or is it just me?

Maybe so, but for a different reason than you might think. Bust Halves have an absolutely fanatical following. It can probably be argued that much of what's left out there is either cleaned or cull simply because the collector base has scarfed up such a high percentage of the good ones, and they ain't sellin'.

With that said, there are still plenty of nice examples around. Certain ebay sellers are legitimate Bust Half experts, selling good coins at reasonable (for the series) prices. This is a series where you must be very careful about prices which look too good to be true. Don't expect a bargain.
