Hi nickelsguy, Since 2009, the 5 cents 1932 Far 2 is well known in Canada and USA, thanks to : - coincommunity : 24480 members, with 315 replies on this topic and 16,822 read. - numicanada : 4361 members, with 423 replies on this topic and 17,459 read. More than 10 coins of the variety Far 2 were sold, on ebay, in december and january. I think that this is a success. However, I agree with you : when this variety will be listed in the Trends and in the Charlton's book, we will see much more interest for this variety. |

Obviously one possibility is the current relative scarcity ratio. But, that may be due to a lack of knowledge and hence examples remain undiscovered. You'd think the recent run of $400 low grade auctions would have gotten some attention. Search for 1906 small crown 25c. Supposedly scarce, but way too many AG/G examples available to support $$$$ demands. |

@ dialog_gvf, I see that this topic " have gotten some attention "  I beleive that the 5 cents 1932 Far 2 is scarce I think that this variety will be inquired in next months or next years |

A dealer I was talking to was commenting that date position varieties aren't generally a big deal.
Like the 1872 A/V 25c, the 1932 far 2 is piggybacked on a famous variety.
But, I think scarcity is the key. If there were only 50 1977 and 1996 alternates, they would be HUGE.

I have 2 more coins, I am having a hard time deciding what type these are. Here is a picture for both coins  What do you think? |

Hi jin,
- Your coins are very worn.
- The 2 is near leaf
- The 2 is far 3
- The 2 is far rim.
So, I think that your two coins are of the variety Near 2.

It says that example is a specimen strike (which is the softest specimen strike I have seen - I have my doubts)... however, if it is, I wonder if the Far 2 is a result of using the specimen reverse die to strike a number of business strikes...
