Grade: Obv. fine Rev. Good fine. Cat value: 2 Pounds

Mintage 15,478,635 This coin is struck from Quaternary Metal.
50% silver, 40% copper, 5% nickel, 5% zinc.

Before striking the planchets were washed in acid and rinsed. The acid leached some of the copper out of the surface to enrich the silver. After wearing down to about this condition, the poorer alloy shows through in the higher points of the design.
