I can say it's about time. They were really getting out of control, there were some decent folks on there but alot were just plain mean and obnoxious... I am glad they are shut down , I just never thought they would do it.

Might there be another reason they are closing? I've used that forum only a few times, so it's no loss for me.

At one time I had bookmarked and visited and posted on more then 30 forums
I am now down to two were I post dayly and a total of 7 I read dayly
and Coin Universe has not been on the list since a year or so

Most forums get either boring or overmoderated (since I do not visit the free for all mudslinger forums )

The boring and overmoderated loose members by the dozen no way around it and it are also those forums that unashamedly beg for money donations since their income from adds drops or is stopped .

Running a quality website is far from cheap. If its the difference between shutting down or asking for donations, I would hope a quality web site would ask for donations.

Also, here's something you're going to see quite a bit of in the future. A lot of sites now are coded so that if you block the ads, you don't get in, period. A ton of newspaper websites are doing this now and its going to be very common in the near future.

Personally, I like the idea. I mean pop-ups and pop-unders are obnoxious, but if your going to a free site that has quality information, I don't see why you can't deal with a few unobtrusive ads to pay the bills.

Here's one now.....

I consider someone who proclaims his net worth is far above half a million dollar and who has a regular income not in need of donations to contiue a for a free site that makes money by providing people for other paying sites

Since my eyes and brain cannot cope with flashing dancing things on my screen when I have to choose I will probably choose to stay away
because on most investor forums I have allways given more then I got back

That is why I am down to two forums were I still post dayly and none is an investor forum
