No, the coin was struck while not centered between the dies.

I am not at all familiar with modern coins, but that second dime is quite interesting.... the obliteration of the upset planchet rims on opposite sides of the coin, with associated Strike Doubling and detail weaknesses in odd places causes me tho think that this second dime is a misaligned die specimen... both coins are better finds than are a grease strike through though.

Maybe this should be on the Modern coin error forum.... folks there might have some more intelligent things to say about these two coins, (being more familiar with them).

A few things concern me about this coin. The rim is weak in some areas. Some areas show struck through error on devices. But a question I have is: Is there reeding on the outside edge of the 1985 coin? We'll start there.

Is it thinner on one side of the area in question? It may be a tapered planchet? Any way hold onto to it for now till you know for sure. You could also check the weight to see if it varies from the norm.
