I was lurking for walkers once again and saw this auction

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...ageName=WDVW

I then scrolled down to sellers other auctions and he has more walkers. They do look very nice even though they are graded ms65 by pci. I doubt they are more probably like 63 or 64 which may be more in my $$ range.. can you good folks -please take a overall look and give me your opinions. feedback at 99.9% w/no negs.
I am in no hurry to complete this set but these do look nice and if I can get half a chance I may bite...

Then I would bid for this coin as if it were a 63 or 64. This is what I do with lower tiered slabbers...I bid on the coin minus 2 to 4 MS grades and 5 to 10 points in ciculated grades and hope I get lucky.

I'd bid on it as if it were an MS63 and hope for the best.

Hey Grovey, I don't see how you can tell from those photo's what your really getting. Why not shop for a slabbed PCGS,NGC or ANAC's MS62/63 since thats where your hoping to land. Try and look at the long term value on these purchases! Mike

I agree with Mike on this one. While deducting a few points off of a low tier service may work most of the time, there is a reason that they are low tier services. With the big 4 grading companies, they offer guarantees on their grades. Stick with them, and you will find yourself happier in the long run.
The only exception to buying lower tier coins would be sight-seen.

Talking to a dealer recently about crossovers he said that he was surprised
to learn that some PCI coins had done very well with NGC.
The price of the coin in question is currently in the 63-64 range so taking chance may be worth it.

Hi there. The OLD PCI slabs are definately great coins. They match with NGC or PCGS any day of the week. A few years back their standards have gotten a bit sloppy. While they are great for quick authentication at a show, they should only be bought sight-seen.
Rest in Peace

spypondac, welcome to the forum! You have an intesting nickname. There is a thread on the forum about "nicknames" if you care to share the origin or meaning behind it. I look forward to your participation. There are a great bunch of people on this forum. Mike

I'm with Susan on this piece. I would bid it as a raw, MS-63.
