AU58, AU55, MS63, and MS64. But I'm no expert. Was the 83 O lacquered?

Im not sure. These are coins that someone is selling. I am only interested in the last one, but I thought I would see how accurate his grading is by posting the other three he has for sale.

55, 55, 63 & 63 in my opinion. The last two could go up one; pictures are too small to be sure.

I *love* the look of the '81. The '89 looks to have a hard obverse clash, and might be an interesting research piece. The '98 is one little clearer picture of the cheek from going to 64 or maybe better.

Could someone explain why the first two are only AU coins?

I seem to have problems with high AU's and low MS.

Thanks

because they have breaks in the luster caused by rub on the high spots which means they circulated for a short period of time

I'm a little late on this one, but here goes.
1881 AU 53/55
1883O could be MS Looks like a weak strike on obv. I don't think the wing tips show wear.
1889 AU 58 It looks like wear below liberty. On rev. looks like wear on the wing edges and head. Could be compression marks.
1898 MS 64/65.
