Hmmm. Seller registered last month, sold a Sandisk card, and then offers a Pattern Trade dollar of which only 4 are known. Let's just say I'm not even going to bother examining the coin.

Fake. IMO. The denticles are uneven and protrude into the field on the reverse. The 9 looks like the wrong type to me also. I'd watch this one in amazement, not bid unless you are collecting counterfeits. nlp

I looked at his feedback number and immediately became suspicious. I don't know anything about Trade dollars or their patterns, but due to the extreme rarity of this coin and his feedback, I would stay away unless you are confident enough in your skills to ensure it is the real deal. I see that he does offer a money back guarantee, so you could potentially bid and examine the coin yourself, I guess that's up to you.

From the way the coin looks I'd say it is a Chinese counterfeit. Denticals are bad, color is off, and the strike weakness is off for a US mint issue.
