Nickle prices. There is a person on ebay who claims that a roll of 1964 nickles has a melt value of $10.00. Am I missing something?

When I grew up (in a different country) there was a rumor that 0.01 coins dated 1961 "accidentally" got some gold in the alloy, and if you brought one in the bank they would pay you 300 X face value. The truth was it was impossible to find 1961 in circulation.
Now, that I have a Krause catalog (which always has thorough and accurate information ) I see that there was absolutely nothing special about that coin in 1961.
Point: people say things.

Okay, okay. They guy said it. Now, has anyone checked nickel prices lately or has anyone figured out who would buy nickle at anywhere near these prices? Maybe the seller knows something we don't! ;)

I believe that I read in Coin World that it now cost The U.S. Treasury over 9 cent to produce each Nickel, because of the current Copper Prices. I believe the guy on ebay with the roll of 1964 Nickels is One Fry short of a Happy Meal also.
