Guys,
Let me thank the entire admin staff for rocking the house -- you guys go a bang-up job with little thanks, so I just wanted to say thank you first of all. I appreciate you!
Second, it occured to me lately during my quest to find what one commonly kicked-around term meant that there might be a way to improve these forums by the addition of a Glossary/ FAQ section. I'm talking even just a thread where the most-asked questions specific to coins are posted. A sticky.
Specifically, I was looking for the term "Darksider" -- I don't know what this means. I've searched the boards before and can't find a clear explanation, though I could guess by having been a part of the community long enough now that it probably means modern, clad
US coins. I know I can just ask, but then, there is thread after thread of people "just asking" the same stuff over and over again.
FAQ / sticky opportunities include:
1) Common terminology: sliders, darksiders, bent, holed, planchets, culling, abbreviations, explanation of grading, etc
2) Grading services / coin protection options
3) "What years are silver?" -- quick expo on silver content in US currency / exonumia commonly encountered.
4) General Bewares: Cleaning, storage, general rules on where to buy and how to do research.
I know some of this info might be repeated elsewhere, so forgive me if I just missed it.
Thanks as always, fellas.
