The preamble. I held some auctions which ended on December 3, 2010. A certain member posted a winning bid on three of them. I wasn't able to contact the member because his profile did not give me an option to email him. He never contacted me though I saw him appear on the forum. So, here are my questions.

One of the items was bid upon competitively. Should/can I offer it to the next highest bidder?

Should/can I relist the other two items or my obligations to the winner have not expired yet?

Should/could members who do not allow to contact them via email be refused participation in auctions?

Am I asking too many questions for a single thread?

I see no problem in offering to the next highest bidder. You should be able to see all bidders by clicking the Bid History link. Of course, they would be under no obligation to buy.

It's been plenty of time. You may certainly relist.

A good question that I will have to think about.

Good points.

just to bust in here also, with another question.

should all that post an auction require to specify that they only sell to the U.S.
as, I won an auction and the member told me that he didn't ship to Canada.

He sold the coin in question to the next member.

If I remember correctly I bid on this one. http://www.coincommunity.com/forum/...uctionID=510

God please tell me I wasn't the winning bidder cause I haven't received any notification of winning any bids and I surely don't want to earn the reputation of being a non payer.

No, Tim, actually you were the second highest bidder with the bid of $6. If you'd like you can have these Vatican coins for $6 (shipped). I'll PM this offer to you as well.

That's a nice looking set there. I like the Italian style of coins with a portrait on the obverse and figure on the reverse.

My humble opinion ... and you all can throw rotten veggies at me for it ... the CCF was better in the short time we did not have an auction forum.

Recall all the bitter feelings and life-energy we spent dealing with the hassles of people and the 'auction' last year?

Again ... with this thread ... more hassles and forum decisions on how to make things fair for the auction!

No disrespect to valued member svslav ... his post just happened to appear as I was thinking these thoughts.

I submit to all that we take our personal time to visit this site in order to share our joy of coins and share knowledge with each other ... that is our core purpose and no other.

Why do we have an 'auction forum' that continues to distract from our core purpose? Just put your coins up for sale at a fair price in that forum and be done with it.

There are plenty of electronic auction sites that can meet the needs of those needing that thrill .... but it's not why 99% of us visit here every day.

My humble opinion.

Debate on it?

Now ducking rotten vegetables thrown my way.
