ok thanks, I enlarged it, and thought it was strange, then looked through my glass, so did husband and sister and thought it was an 8. maybe it distorts when you do it that way. Thanks!

30 bucks is what a Morgan or Peace dollar usually sells for since silver is at close to $30.00 an ounce now

bryan, I tried to e-mail you, and I can't yet, LOL tomorrow my husnabd and I are going to Rare coins of Raleigh. I just don't know what else to do. I have a million questions, but don't want to offend anyone so I hesitate to ask. It's this 1923 S Peace I have that has me dumbfounded. Yes, I know it's a rather common date but NOT that common, and there were several Matte finished ones as proofs, if you could see this coin, it's perfect and beautiful and if it's worth a steep sum, I don't know what I'll do.
On one hand my Dad would be so happy, but on the other, I would feel like I had to sell it, and I really want to keep it as it's about the prettiest, perfect work of art I've ever been close enough to touch. I read and read and read trying to prove it's just a nice coin worth about 40 bucks, but I just can't prove It's not a really rare one. Sigh.
Sorry, I know it's a forum, but I really have no one else to talk to, they're all like, MOM, it's a coins, who cares. sell them and be done with it. See, they don't get it.

I didn't get to see the coin, Sunny, but keep in mind that Peace dollars are known for weak strikes. One way for this to show itself is for the tips of an "S" mint mark to look connected; I know Morgans better than Peace dollars, and a mint mark looking like that is not uncommon. It will look like an 8, even if it hasn't circulated.
