I recently finished the Dansco 7070 Type Set and am now considering doing a second version, this time using only NGC and PCGS slabbed coins- as high grade as I can afford.

Has anyone here done this? Any pointers? I know PCGS has the best resale value, but I am doing this more for hobby purposes, and I have been finding most of the coins I want so far in NGC holders.

I'm working on a 1981S Type 2 Set. I cant buy the coins as type two have to find them in the 81 sets. I've found the SBA,Roosevelt,Lincoln Cent. so far. I use NGC due to the ANA. And on a similar note I do see more NGC Holders with the coins I'm looking for. Good Luck with your hunt. Thats the best part for me. Thanks for your time.

I'm working on a certified type set. I started with a 20th century to present type set and I plan on working my way back as far as economically possible. I prefer slabs or 2x2's to albums because I think it is easier to view each individual coin and you can define the set anyway you want.

If you are not worried about resale value, I would suggest just looking for the coin that appeals to you the most, regardless of the TPG. The vast majority of my set is PCGS, but I've got several NGC and ANACS coins as well. I would also include an ICG slab if I liked the coin enough.

I don't think a slabbed type set would be any harder than a 7070 album. Most of the ones in my album were slabbed when I got them anyway so it would just take out a step on allot of the coins for me

We have a coin show coming up in February, so hopefully I can get a good start then. I am considering doing a 1853 set because I like the rays on the back of the Quarter and Half.
