I just got these 2 Seated Liberty halves from epay for $31.
One has a bad scrape on the obverse.
I wanted a hole filler for my Dansco type album.
Did I pay too much?

Between the two of them, you've got at least one coin w/ nice detail and no damage. Now how you go about combining them into that one coin could be a challenge.

I personally would not have touched those coins with very long pole or stick of some sort. However, I know there are people who can't stand empty holes in their albums, so for that purpose I suppose you did ok.

I love the font used on the date. The fives especially! Very artistic.

Personally, I would not have paid $31 for them, but as far as hole fillers go, they should do well enough.

Well, sounds like for the most part I wasted my money on these. I am that person that doesn't like to have holes in my album and I do intend to replace some coins as I can. I guess that is a poor trait to have if you are trying to fill a bunch of albums at once (LOL). After all, I am buying coins as I can afford them but my coin budget is very limited right now. I still have a bunch of posts to get under my belt here before I can sell some things and suppliment my coin budget. Thanks for everyones comments.

I don't think you did that bad on these. Numismedia lists them both at right around $30 (each) in G-4 condition. The 1873 is easily in that grade in my opinion and the 1855 has probably Fine details and the damage.

Nah, not really. The deal will look even better if silver keeps going up If you had asked me to find you two Seated Half hole fillers, I would have had a hard time finding two problem-free G/VG coins for $30. You will definitely do better in the long run by saving up and buying better quality coins but if you are going to go for hole fillers, get em' cheap

...this means you have already filled the holes for the 1855-S and both 1873-CC's?
