I ordered this set and a specimen set from the mint 2 days ago and will take a good look when I get them.

I scanned both UNC sets at the same time. The contrast, the shine... and the relief on the $2 is evidently different. I see no bag marks whatsoever on my 2009. I used to find better coins in bank rolls than this UNC set. Watch out ICCS, a new grade for you: ANBU Almost Numismatic Brilliant Uncirculated.

If the mint is putting regular MS coins in the PL sets, they should be ashamed. That's $3.91 of circulating coins you could get at face value from the bank, marked up to $23.95.

Well, mine is definitely not like the previous PL sets. Mind you, the Mint calls it Uncirculated set, not proof-like set. Business MS-65/66...?

Got mine today,no problems with quality.Have you voiced your concerns to the Mint? For $23.95 you should expect some measure of quality.

Well DBM, I ordered another one just to make sure. And maybe this one set that I got is actually something of interest but we just don't know yet.
I'll update the thread when I get my second set.

Mine is #16611. Although not as bad as yours cdn44fan, my dollar has a few scratches, pits and rim nicks too.

I'm trying to get one of these sets from an ebay seller. The mint advertises them but the shipping to the USA is $12.99. That's outrageous!

The card says "These uncirculated coins have been carefully selected to provide you with the best examples of their kind" You know there are better examples

I have been going through the box of new 2010 pennies and they are exactly what you are describing. I know you are talking about 2011 uncirculated coins, but these have just come from the mint, are supposed to be in great shape with some one can grade as BU 62 and 63. They have scratches, gouges and pit marks as well as rusty marks. As stated earlier, I hope that coins, made for not only our country but others, are in better shape than what you are showing and what I have seen in this box of 2010 pennies.

Not sure if the dollar I have is even MS-63. Of all the coins I have in the set, perhaps the 10 cents is the best with no significant distraction. All the others have marks, nicks and pits that throws them off the high MS grade. But EVEN so, here is a comparison with one I just pulled a business strike from a 1998 bank roll - side-by-side with the 2011: This makes you go hummmm. I don't have any canadian circulation coins after 1999 to compare..., but I suspect you can find better samples in fresh bank rolls.

You'd think that after 20,000 or more sets sold that more than us few have seen this. I wonder if they have not even looked at them closely yet

Side issue: The mint logo is maintained for the regular circulation-type coins in 2011. It disappeared on commemoratives part way through last year, including the circulating Navy and Roughrider loonies.

I had a close look at 6 sets at a local Post Office today and yes every unc. set had bag marks most noticably on the Queens cheek. I didn't buy any.
