I wasnt sure where to post this so I put it here.

I got some presidental Dollars as a gift from someone for my daughters first birthday. I got 10 of them. I put them in air tights for safe keeping for now. The woman that gave them to me was rather suprised I was going to save them and give them to my daughter when she is older. I was wondering what you collectors would do? How old do you think I should give these to her? How do I keep them from toning like my mother's day silver bullion coin did? I would ask my husband NPCoin his idea on this but this is somehting I want to do on my own and say I did this for you. :)

I would hold them till she is old enough to understand what they are and the value. get her involved in coins as soon as she can talk and she may have a nice set by 20. but beings they are pres dollars and you didn't say S mint or circulated coins I am assuming they are regular minted coins for circulation. if so you will be able to pick them up for years to come. as for the tarnish. they are going to turn color no matter what you do if they have been touched by human hands. if that's the case just go and get yourself a mint set or roll from the year you want

Assuming they're in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, you did the perfect thing already !!

The first year of these was 2007, and I'd suggest that you try to get one of each President before too many years pass. That way, when she's ready to receive your gift, she'll have a complete collection of them up to that point.
As far as the age......
My 6 year old loves coins and collecting......but not to the point where it's a "realized hobby" yet with very much focus. I would guess around 10 years old or so this might be more prevalent, as long as I keep her on it.

to the Community!

My son will be three in April. I am already trying to get him interested in coins. He loves to count out the spare change (the number of coins, not the amount) and put it in his piggy bank.

I am hoping in the next year or two he will understand more of the things I am telling him about the coins. Hopefully he will become more interested. We shall see!
