LOOKS TO BE A FATIGUE DIE. ZOOM OUT SO THAT THE REST OF THE DATE CAN BE SEEN.

My guess would be that of a deteriorated die because of flatness around it, but the last digit '3' would cost me to guess otherwise.

It doesn't have the roundness of a doubled die.

Looking at the split serifs on the bottom of the 4; however, this is too minor to have any extra value or be listed as a DD).

Thanks for the replies and knowledge. I was curious because I have 1943s Merc that has the same mark on the '3'.
