Hello all,
I have 4-angled golden coin from Netherlands with text on its back side "Willem Alexander Prins der Nederlanden 27 April 1967". Not sure about its weight (maybe 8-10g).
Is it rare, what about its value?
What catalogue should I search for details about it?
Thank you very much for any help,
Jenny

well it's not really a coin I guess but a memorial token or something.
This one is also not in the latest all round catalogue of 2011 from The Netherlands, so can't really help you with that now.

I have to go now, but I will try and ask for you on a Dutch coin forum!

As Kingz wrote, this is not a coin. The person :) depicted is Willem Alexander, and the date on the other side is when he was born. He will be the next king of the Netherlands, by the way. Don't know how much it might be worth though.

Now the shape - square with rounded corners - does remind of older Dutch coins. For example, the 5 cent piece had that shape between 1913 and 1940.

I agree, it is not a coin, but the planchet may be based on an NCLT gold coin.

If that is the case, it may have the same planchet specs. as the
Netherlands Antilles 300 Gulden. Weight 5.04 grammes, .900 fine, .1458 AGW.

I have a square coin collection of about 90 different types and included is the coin mentioned here. It is the only NCLT coin in this part of my collection.

About the shape. I (used to) have same shape, square or, in "American", diamond - when it is oriented from corner to the opposite corner, commemorative medal of reign jubilee (60th I think?)of Franz Josef II of Austro-Hungary. Somewhat similar in design, much older bloke though. I didn't bring it along around half-world, hopefully my parents still have it.

Thank you all for your very interesting answers;
I'll check the exact weight of it next week and purity (though I'm almost positive its 24K). So, I hope someone will find or know its approx. value (as you see I'm not a collector and have no experience).
Thanks one more time for your help.
