I bought this coin/round at a estate sale today and I can't find any info on the coin online....
Obverse of coin reads (The United States Of America) and has a pic of Washington and Ford and dated 1776-1976

The Reverse of coin reads (Grand Lodge Of The District Of Columbia. A.L.5811.
The Edge has FS.999 and 236 maybe 2.36 as in oz

Any info would be great and Even if its not a rare coin it's still kind of cool... Check out the pics
Thanks again

FS .999 probably stands for .999 fine silver...no idea about the 236....probably not the weight though....I would guess I to be close to an ounce, maybe a little less as many commemoratives (us govt issue) are 26 grams. Maybe someone more knowledgeable than I will chime in here. I am not a FM but it's still cool. I found an old straight razor in an abandoned house with masonic symbols on the blade. I gave it to a good friend who is a FM. I sure wish I hadn't done that now!!

The medal could be the same type as the one mentioned here http://www.dcgrandlodge.org/webfm_send/10 (PDF file; search for "1976"). No image or explanation of the piece though. Sometimes medals have serial numbers on the edge, so "236" could be that (just a guess though).

Also, AL 5811 translates to 1811 (the year when the lodge was founded), and they issue new medals for this year's bicentennial: http://200.dcgrandlodge.org/forms/c...re201008.pdf Could be an opportunity to also ask them about older pieces. :)

Thank you for the replies.
I forgot to mention that the coin is 1 1/2 inches x a little under 1/8 inch
The weight of the coin in the plastic is 161 grams = 5.679 oz and I cant really see the plastic weighing that much
Thanks again for the help....
