Yes, sorry

There is raised metal in the areas I mentioned,similar to what I've seen called a die break on silver dollars. Although it's hard to see with this size of photo. I can't seem to get those really nice blow-ups of detail that some of you are able to post.

You can copy the picture and use your viewer to blow it up a bit.

i have not seen a die crack that didn't start from a rim, would it be a die scratch then?

If it is a die crack the area affected would include the devices running through them. If it flows behind the devices, then it would be a gouge on the fields that makes if appear behind the devices. I can tell for sure which way it is from the images. Sorry.

Looks like a couple of nice die cracks to me. I was wondering where the "D" was myself.

oops...sorry guys. I have two rolls 1955 quarters. One is roll of D's and the other, where this coin came out of, is an unc roll off 55 P's.

there were two coins , like the one in the picture, and one with a different crack above the pluribus that I found in the the roll of P's.
