I just got a roll of these dollars from my bank and they are in the yellow roll and it says directly from U.S. Mint. Should I not open this roll of coins? Does it have more value this way? and does this mean these coins are uncirulated since the roll hasn't been opened yet?

I believe those are the direct ship rolls. You can order them from the mint by rolls and bags, for face value (free shipping). Personally, I assign no extra value to any roll of coins because of what kind a roll it is; however, I would expect these coins to be uncirculated. Best thing you can do is open them. Edit: I just checked the order page at the mint and the rolls are white, not yellow. However, they may have been yellow at some point in time.

The original mint rolls (year 2000) were yellow. Now they are mix of Orange and white or some combination. I would wait to open these. Wait till someone else gives their opinion.

Click this link to a discussion about this very thing, here on the forum ! https://goccf.com/t/79385And the "opinions" you'll read there are as varied as the weather ! My vote is that you DON'T open the special "Official U.S. Mint" wrapped rolls..... which are different wrappers than the same year standard Fed. resv. rolls. ...and hence...a higher price paid for those vs. those not wrapped by the Mint. (I don't know about the "Direct Ship" ones for face value....but I do know that you can't get BOTH mints this way.) They're different with the Quarters too...... all of the " Two Roll Sets" have the special Mint paper..... Fed. Resv. ones you can get at the bank do not have that Mint wrapper.... And they're different with the 2009 Cents too....same thing. And they're different with the Presidential dollars. The "premium", in part, is deserved based on this being the ONLY way to BOTH mints too, IMO. So, if a premium was paid somewhere in the line for a roll from a "Two Roll Set".....I wouldn't open it regardless of what it cost "me". Rolls for "opening" are the Fed Resv. rolls/Bank rolls/Customer rolls, etc. etc.

First of all, what year is your roll? That will help to determine whether it is a premium Mint Roll or a Direct Ship roll. For Sackies, the Direct Ship program started with the new Native American reverses in 2009(although they currently have 2001s available as well ) and these rolls do not have any premium at all as they are available from the Mint for face value.

Ok so here is a link to what my roll looks like http://cgi.ebay.com/2000-Sacagawea-...em2a085d8611 since my computer is still being stupid and won't let me upload the pictures. The front coin says 2000 on it so I am assuming they are all that year with the P mint mark
